Read-only Azure inventory with utilisation metrics, maintained by AWS. The right instrument for a cloud-to-cloud assessment.

What it is

A PowerShell tool that inventories an Azure tenant you have read access to and captures utilisation metrics alongside it. It is published and maintained by AWS Labs under an MIT-0 licence, which is the useful part of its provenance: an AWS-maintained instrument for measuring an Azure estate is exactly the credibility a cloud-to-cloud comparison needs.

How we use it

This is our standard collection route for Azure to AWS work. Where resource names cannot leave the tenant, it can produce an obfuscated inventory that masks identifiers before anything is shared externally, which is frequently the unblocker for a bank or a government tenant.

One thing to watch: it needs administrator privileges during execution, because it installs PowerShell modules and CLI components. That is worth flagging to a security team in advance rather than mid-run. Run inside Cloud Shell, large tenants can also hit session timeouts.
